The East Village Small Glass Igloos have 2 single beds, each Igloo has a small toilet and a wash basin inside, shower and sauna attached. Our glass igloos are available right through the northern lights season, which begins around the third week of August and finishes around the end of April.
The West Village is about 4km away from the East Village. Most of the activities, such as Husky Safari, Reindeer Safari, Visit Santa’s Home are in the West Village.

The guide will pick up guests from Kakslauttanen and provide thermal outfits at the farm. After photo opportunity with reindeer it’s time to sit comfortably in the sledge under warm blankets and head into the wilderness. After the ride we enter to a traditional reindeer herder’s shelter and home “kota” to enjoy hot juice and a Finnish treat. Finnhorses are the national breed of Finland. These noble and calm horses are wonderful to ride, also for the ones with no previous riding experience. After arriving at the Kakslauttanen horse stables the guests get their riding gear and an introduction tour at a stables. Then it’s time to head to the wintery forest. This peaceful ride takes you as close to the harmony of nature you can get. After the ride we thank our horses and head inside for a hot drink and treat.

This is the fastest, loudest and most adrenaline-pumping way to get around in Lapland’s nature. On our snowmobile safari, we’ll ride down the fell into the snowy forest, enjoying some of the best scenery the region has to offer. The two-hour safari includes an outdoor coffee break, while the four-hour safari includes lunch prepared over an open fire and enjoyed out in the open. For those craving more, we also offer an overnight safari.

A thrilling nighttime ride in the arctic forest. The guests are picked up from Kakslauttanen, taken to the activity location next to the forest and provided with thermal outfits and instructions. The snowmobile is for two people: one is driving and the other one sits in the back, you can swap drivers halfway. There is also an option to have your own snowmobile and if you don’t wish to drive yourself, you can also ride a sleigh pulled by guide’s snowmobile (for extra cost). The lights of the snowmobiles will illuminate the snow as you head into the wilderness with a bit of adrenaline. While taking a break we enjoy hot berry juice and if stars are lucky, the Aurora Borealis, Northern Lights, appear in the sky. There will be a break for photo shoots and changing the driver on the way. After the ride, we’ll have a cup of hot juice and a treat together before heading back to Kakslauttanen.

The traditional Finnish wellbeing experience. Sauna is an integral part of Finnish culture. For centuries, it has been a place for physical and spiritual cleansing. Kakslauttanen’s traditional smoke saunas are heated for hours for the optimal experience. Step in, smell the wood and feel the comfortable warmth and moist on your skin. Sit down, lean back, close your eyes and allow your mind and body to rest. To complete the experience, we recommend trying the ice pool next to the sauna, rolling in the snow or taking a cold shower. Also, you might want to return to the warmth of the sauna afterwards!

Saariselkä has frequently been ranked as one of the world’s best cross-country skiing destinations. The diverse network of ski tracks runs for almost 200 kilometres, with around 30 kilometres being illuminated. At Kakslauttanen, you can get going right from the yard of your chalet. We offer ski instruction to people of all ages, and the ski bus service means you’ll be able to enjoy all parts of the extensive network of tracks. The ski season is long – tracks are usually available in October, and you can ski right through into May.

The guide will pick guests up from Kakslauttanen and provide thermal outfits at the husky farm. Then it is time to meet the friendly dogs who are eagerly waiting in front of the sledges. Husky dogs love running and can’t wait to get going! The sled is for two to four people. The guide will drive the sleigh while you will enjoy the wintery forest landscape! After arriving at the farm and thanking your dogs for the adventure together it’s time for a hot drink and some husky stories.

Your husky guide will meet you at reception and provide you with suitable thermal clothing. After short briefing we move to our kennel, where you will meet our huskies and learn about their life. In this visit you will get in close contact with them, as we will take you to their ,,free run area”, where the dogs are running and playing together. Expect lot of hugs and kisses. As a part of the program, we will also stop by in our newly renovated puppy park. Once again, lot of hugs and kisses available. Before it's time to leave, we will enjoy hot drinks by the fire in our traditional teepee. Don't forget to bring your camera!
